Our mission

Over the past 40 years, Chevening has given over 60,000 talented individuals from across the globe the opportunity to study a master's degree in the UK.

After graduating, Chevening scholars then return home with the knowledge, network, and skills to create positive change in their local communities and beyond.

The Chevening Scholarship Programme works with over 160 countries and overseas territories and is funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations.

Together, we enable outstanding emerging leaders from across the world to drive positive change in their respective fields and industries.

Bülent Hiçsönmez, 1994-1995 Chevening scholar

Bülent is the former Director of Google Turkey and currently a Regional Director at Google, responsible for overseeing Europe, the Middle East and Africa's (EMEA) emerging markets.

Óscar Parra-Vera, 2015-2016 Chevening scholar

Óscar is a Magistrate at the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) of Colombia. He manages major cases of human rights violations to provide justice for victims of the most serious crimes related to Colombia’s armed conflict.

Sarah Egbo, 2018-2019 Chevening scholar

As the Policy Lead at the Gender Mobile Initiative, Sarah leads groundbreaking efforts to eliminate sexual and gender-based violence on higher education campuses across Nigeria.
