Celebrating diversity
Chevening in numbers
We’re incredibly proud of the diversity that defines the Chevening programme.
Scholars from all over the world bring a wealth of backgrounds and perspectives, enriching UK culture and fostering global dialogue and understanding.
Here, we highlight the diversity of the 2023-24 cohort of Chevening scholars.
1360 Chevening scholars were welcomed to the UK in 2023-24.
They came from over 140+ countries and territories worldwide.
56% of the cohort identified as female, while 43% identified as male.
The youngest person in the cohort was 23, while the oldest was 53.
16 scholars received disability funding.
Scholars spent 1364 hours volunteering for UK causes.

Chevening Alumna Silvia Ramírez has dedicated her career to empowering underrepresented groups, particularly girls, in the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Silvia’s story reflects how global scholarship opportunities can encourage diverse individuals to dream big and make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
I chose the UK for its renowned universities, cultural diversity, and the opportunity to explore places I had only encountered in books or films.
